Admissions requirements:
- All applicants must meet the Graduate School’s admissions requirements outlined on this website – see “Admissions Requirements and Transcripts”
- The Graduate School requires that all applicants must show proof of English language proficiency. Read about their requirements on this website – see “Test Scores…”
- You can review additional IPSS admissions requirements here in the IPSS handbook
- The IPSS program does not require GRE scores.
- The IPSS program only recommends applicants to the Graduate School for admission if they have identified an advisor who will make a commitment of financial support (tuition, stipend, and research expenses). Prospective students are encouraged to contact potential advisors before applying.
- The IPSS program does not have coursework requirements for program admission. However, for students who do not have basic undergraduate coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, statistics, or other courses deemed necessary to be successful in their field of study, the prospective advisor and the admissions committee may recommend that admission to the program be conditional pending the completion of supporting coursework. Once these background courses have been completed, the condition will be lifted.
Applying to the IPSS program:
- Before applying, identify a faculty member who commits to supporting you financially (tuition, stipend, and research expenses) and will act as your advisor. This is required for admission to IPSS. Your Graduate School application fee will not be refunded if you fail to do this.
- All applicants must apply online at the Graduate School’s website.
- Applicants will need to upload the following:
- Transcripts;
- TOEFL or IELTS score if necessary, or other proof of English proficiency;
- current CV;
- a personal statement briefly explaining your background, why you want to pursue this degree, your research interests, and your short- and long-term career goals;
- Three (3) letters of recommendation which will be requested electronically from letter writers who are identified by the applicant during the application process;
- Application fee. Domestic applicants (U.S. citizens or resident aliens) must pay a $65 application fee; international applicants must pay a $75 fee. In exceptional cases, the application fee can be paid by the applicant’s advisor. Once paid, these fees are not refundable.
